I would say choose Amoray if you want an easy and fun diving experience, but if you aren’t interested in diving - the resort doesn’t have much to offer you.… This outweighs any negative experience with the resort. All in all, I would say that the positive and competent diving staff provide an awesome experience that delights even on days with less than optimal conditions. Nearby there is a good local bar called The Big Chill (AVOID THE SUNDOWNER AT ALL COSTS- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED).Other than that, be aware that you will need to drive or Uber for food / drinks or bring groceries. The complimentary breakfast was random fruit in a ice water bath and subpar premade coffee. The pool was small and the ‘beach’ area is a strip of sand built up along the bay (they did their best though). Also, housekeeping is essentially nonexistent - you have to put used items in a black box outside to have replaced but never worked for me). The shower had a leak, the beds were a little dirty when I arrived (something sticky was underneath the pillow on one of the beds.
I also used a guide, Amy, for 2 of my post-certification dives and she was excellent at finding awesome things underwater to watch, even though conditions were low visibility that day, I stayed at the resort during my time and I think that the amenities are a little lacking. The process was fun and after finishing the training I felt comfortable setting up and using the SCUBA gear and I also now have the confidence to react calmly and appropriately to an problem. I went for my Open Water certification where the instructor, Max, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
