To visit the SARA Facebook page Click Here The Sports Complex has several baseball fields, rugby/football/soccer multi use fields, nature walking trails and paved walking trails, concession and restroom facility, and practice space as part of the first phase of construction. The SRA is planning the construction of a Sports Complex in the northwest corner of the Village of Sparta on a 88acre parcel. SARA consists of the youth sports organizations in Sparta (Cheerleading, Rugby, Youth Football, FC Ridge (Soccer), and Little League). The SARA organization is a 501c3 that is the fundraising arm of the SRA. The SRA is an authority that consists of 3 Township representatives, 3 Village representatives, and 3 representatives of the Sparta Area Recreational Association (SARA). The Village of Sparta and Sparta Township have worked together to form the Sparta Recreational Authority (SRA). The SRA board is comprised of elected officials and appointed members serving on behalf of each municipality and organization.
The SRA was charged with constructing and managing a sports park that meets the needs of the growing youth sports organizations and provides recreation opportunities for everyone in the community. The SRA is a quasi-governmental entity that was formed jointly between the Village of Sparta, Sparta Township, and by the non-profit fundraising youth sports organization SARA. SRA is the Sparta Recreational Authority. Their goal is to create a centralized facility that will improve existing facilities with amenities such as ADA Accessibility for wheelchairs, strollers, etc., restroom facilities, concession stand, and improved and expanded playing fields for baseball/softball, rugby, soccer, football, and other recreation amenities such as paved pedestrian trails and nature trails, and more. SARA’s primary purpose is to serve as a fundraising arm for the development and construction of a youth recreation facility. SARA is a nonprofit 501c3 organization who consists of representatives of the area youth sports organizations including Little League, Youth Soccer (FC Ridge), Rocket Cheerleading, Youth Rugby, and Youth Football. SARA- is the Sparta Area Recreational Association. When elected, my decisions will be made using these priorities as a focus.The Sparta Recreational Authority and How It Works This is a must if we are to move forward and be able to accomplish what is needed. Our youth are our future, so let's invest.įrom the board down to all of the Metro employees as well as cross communication between the board and the county commissioners. We need forward thinking and creative leaders to accomplish proper growth. Parks and recreation is the backbone to a successful community. My top three priorities are economic development, which I touched on above, parks and recreation and communication. We need to create a simple process that is a win-win for new corporations and the Metro to do business in Pueblo West.Ģ. Once we have a diverse economic development board, objectives and goals can be assigned from the district manager with the oversight of the metro board.
This committee should be redesigned to consist of our District Manager as a non voting member to oversee the committee, as well as 5 others selected through Metro District board vote.Įxample: A chamber of commerce board member and other key individuals that are made up from Pueblo West community organizations. Our current board created an Economic development committee. We need to have an aggressive, creative and forward thinking mindset to take Pueblo West to the the next level. I feel that my experience in the Army, nonprofit organizations and owning my own businesses have given me essential skills in leadership, organization and communication.
